Stereo Width Gauge

Description

The width gauge has been developed from many years of practical experience, and is designed to be accurate, reliable, flexible at low cost.

For reliability, the camera head has no moving parts, yet contains all necessary parts to measure width.

Optional, displays, storage and I/O can be mounted in a remote equipment cabinet.

The gauge, which can be used for radiant or backlit applications, consists of a stereoscopic camera and all associated electronics, which is protected by an environmental housing. This is mounted about 4 meters above the product to be measured.

This unit is water cooled. And the stainless steel housing is kept on overpressure in order to prevent dust and moisture ingress.

Typical performance figures of the HSM width gauge:

  • Static accuracy 0.4 mm @ 2 sigma (over full width)

  • Accuracy on steel dynamic 0.8 mm @ 2 sigma (over full width)

  • Measuring frequency 1000 sampels/sec

  • Measuring field of view from 500 to 3000 mm

  • Temperature range of product 750°C to 1150°C (radiant) <750°C (backlit)

  • Passline variation up to 500mm from passline

The latest technology has been incorporated enabling a measuring rate and accuracy second to none.
Flexible data
storage enables the customer to investigate trends and update the width control models in modern Hot Strip Mills.
Some key design concepts of the equipment offer the end user flexibility in installing , including retrofitting into most
existing enclosures, ease of maintenance and reliability of operation throughout the years to come.
